​Who Can Apply — Eligibility for CRPF Tradesman 2026

​Before you apply, check these three things. If you meet all three you are eligible. If you miss even one you cannot apply.

​1. Age Limit

​Your exact age is calculated as on January 1, 2026.

​For Constable Driver:

You must be between 21 and 27 years old. You must be born between January 2, 1999, and January 1, 2005.

​For All Other Trades and Pioneer Posts:

You must be between 18 and 23 years old. You must be born between January 2, 2003, and January 1, 2008.

​Age Relaxation Rules:

• ​SC category candidates: 5 extra years

• ​ST category candidates: 5 extra years

• ​OBC category candidates: 3 extra years

• ​Ex-Servicemen: 3 extra years after military service deduction

• ​Children of 1984 riot victims: 5 to 10 extra years depending on category

​2. Educational Qualification

​You need a 10th class pass certificate (Matriculation) to apply for all posts. This must come from a recognized school board.

​Additional Technical Needs:

• ​Driver: You must possess a Heavy Transport Vehicle (HTV) Driving License.

• ​Motor Mechanic: You need a 2-year ITI certificate in Mechanic Motor Vehicle and 1-year practical experience.

• ​Pioneer (Mason/Electrician): You need 1-year experience in your trade. ITI certificate holders will get preference.

• ​Other Trades (Cook, Barber, Bugler etc.): You must be proficient in your respective trade work.

​3. Physical Standards

​You must meet strict height measurements.

• ​Male Height (General/OBC/SC): 170 Cms

• ​Female Height (General/OBC/SC): 157 Cms

• ​Male Chest: 80 Cms un-expanded with 5 Cms expansion

​How Will You Be Selected — Selection Process

​Getting selected for CRPF Tradesman happens in multiple stages. Here is exactly what happens at each stage:

​Stage 1 — Physical Efficiency Test (PET) and PST

​This is a stamina test. You will have to run a specific distance in a given time.

• ​For Driver, Mechanic, Painter, Carpenter, Tailor, Bugler, Gardener: Males run 5 Kms in 24 minutes. Females run 1.6 Kms in 8.30 minutes.

• ​For Cook, Water Carrier, Barber, Washerman, Safai Karamchari: Males run 1.6 Kms in 10 minutes. Females run 1.6 Kms in 12 minutes.

• ​For Pioneer Wing (Mason, Electrician): Males run 1.6 Kms in 9 minutes.

​After the race, your height, chest, and weight will be measured (PST).

​Stage 2 — Computer Based Test (CBT)

​This is an online written exam of 100 marks. You get 2 hours to complete it.

​The paper covers these subjects:

• ​General Intelligence and Reasoning: 25 marks

• ​General Knowledge and Awareness: 25 marks

• ​Elementary Mathematics: 25 marks

• ​English or Hindi: 25 marks

​Is there negative marking?

YES — 0.25 marks are deducted for every wrong answer.

​Stage 3 — Trade Test

​Candidates who pass the CBT go to the practical Trade Test. You have to perform your actual job duties here. A cook will cook food for 100 men. A driver will drive and park heavy vehicles. A tailor will stitch uniforms.

This is a 50-mark test. You must score at least 20 marks to qualify.

​Stage 4 — Document Verification and Medical Exam

​Selected candidates are called for document verification. Force doctors will then do a Detailed Medical Examination (DME). They check your eyesight, color vision, and general fitness strictly.

​ℹ️ NOTE: There is NO interview for this post. Your final merit list is based entirely on your Computer Based Test (CBT) marks.
