​You need a nursing diploma or degree to apply. This means a GNM (General Nursing and Midwifery) diploma or a B.Sc Nursing degree from any college recognized by the Indian Nursing Council.

​You must hold a valid registration certificate from the Odisha Nursing Council.

​You must have passed the Middle School (Class 7) or Matriculation (Class 10) exam with Odia as a language subject. This is mandatory for all Odisha government jobs.

A written objective test of 100 marks covering nursing subjects, practical skills, arithmetic, and English. Duration: 2 hours. There is a negative marking of 0.25 marks for every wrong answer. Candidates scoring above the cut off go to Stage 2.
